'Four-square Push-hands' (sizheng tuishou 四正推手) in its 'forward' and 'backwards' timings. Four-hands provides the template for the practices which ultimately reveal the theory of taijiquan. As well, we will study the 'eight changes' of the four-hands circle and their applications. Forward timing four-hands provides the clearest means of mastering the peng, lü, ji, an method. It is exacting in its expression of these four 'square' energies (sizheng 四正) and is rhythmically more advanced than the backward timing which is necessary for study of the fundamental structure of sizheng tuishou and for learning rhythmic qualities within push-hands.
